ULMA's first regular meeting of 2008 was held on Saturday, January 12. Our hosts were Redeemer Lutheran Church in St. Clair Shores, Michigan. They are a member congregation of the United Lutheran Mission Association. We were blessed with reports from our growing mission field and plans for the future. There was so much activity, we couldn't complete the entire meeting agenda!

Check out this news release to review the highlights.

We have a second mission congregation which held its first worship service on July 1, 2007. Gloria Dei Lutheran Church is located in Escanaba, Michigan. The mission has continued to grow since this first service.

It all began when a group of interested laymen contacted the ULMA looking for information on starting a mission. They had read the material on this website, done their homework, and graciously invited us to visit. In less than three months they had secured a location, equipment, and Lutheran pastor. We pray that the Lord of the Harvest bless these humble efforts to establish a new mission complete with liturgical worship and Law/Gospel preaching.

2006 News

The year began with the Milwaukee Mission, Sola Scriptura, continuing to go strong. They have approved their own constitution, bylaws, and called a pastor!

Rev. James A. Behling was installed at a special service on Sunday, August 6th. Click here for details on the event. We just posted some photographs, as well.

The ULMA Commission had their January meeting in Naperville, Illinois. Many items were covered and a strong commitment extended with increase funding dedicated to opening new missions. A sentence indicating acceptance of the doctrine and practice outlined in the Brief Statement was also added to our Constitutional Guidelines for Mission Congregations. Further details on these and other topics can be found in our latest news release.

The ULMA Commission met in Tinley Park, Illinois (SW of Chicago) on July 29. Check here for news on the meeting and plans for growth.

If you are interested in having your congregation join ULMA as a member congregation. Or if you know of interested parties who would like to start a conservative, confessional Lutheran congregation, please do not hesitate to contact us. There is no need to wait for a regularly scheduled meeting of the ULMA Commission. We will be happy to talk with you.
