Rev. Shaw's Missionary Journey

---

Rev. James R. Shaw accepted a call to Pilgrim Lutheran Church, Decatur, Illinois, in February, 2008. His first assignment serving as Missionary at Large on behalf of the United Lutheran Mission Association is Agnus Dei Lutheran Church in the Spotsylvania/Fredericksburg area of Virginia.

Pastor Shaw has had quite a journey since February, which included packing up and moving from Lexington, Missouri, to Fredericksburg, Virginia—a place that was already familiar to the Shaws. One of their daughters lives in Spotsylvania with her husband and three children. They are members of Agnus Dei.

The Shaws' first stop was in Decatur, Illinois. There they met with the pastors and members of Pilgrim Lutheran Church. The installation service took place on Sunday, April 13. There were over 600 in attendance.

A reception dinner was held following the installation service. This was an excellent opportunity for the members and friends of Pilgrim to meet their new missionary.

The following day the Shaws were underway for Michigan. They arrived at St. Clair Shores to visit Redeemer Lutheran Church. The visit consisted of a potluck supper followed by Redeemer's 7:00pm Monday service. Rev. Shaw preached at the service.

The week concluded with the Shaws' arrival in Virginia. After a rapid unpacking and moving into their new accommodations, the first Sunday at Agnus Dei arrived.

Rev. Shaw preached his first service at Agnus Dei on Sunday, April 20, 2008. Twenty people attended the service. It was followed by a Bible study and then dinner reception at a member's home.
